Auditions- Aberrant Behavior- Saturday June 7th @ Mamma Buzz in Oakland arts district

I am having auditions for my new movie "Aberrant Behavior" Saturday June Seventh at Mamma Buzz Cafe in downtown Oaklands Art District 2318 Telegraph Ave from 4-6PM. I have already casted some of the roles and have people working on it, I just have not cast all of them yet and of course the female lead.

There will be some paid roles (of course the leads) but this is a low budget (around 25-35,000 or so) affair so it won't be a whole lot. Just to warn you.

Aberrant Behavior, is basically a love story about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction. They have a very co-dependent relationship and with there disorders too , they literally destroy each other.

There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis. If you can't make it to the auditions, you can send me a head shot with resume, or whatever you want. We can then decide when and where to meet.

THERE WILL BE SOME SEXUALITY AND NUDITY FOR THE TWO LEADS, AS WELL AS MISTY AND FOGGY TO A LESSER DEGREE. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME FOR THOSE ROLES, IF YOUR NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THAT. THANK YOU.

I will be hiring for many roles, all ages (over 18) races, sizes, etc. But here are the main characters:
Main Characters:

LEADS:
Victor Muertos: (Mid to late twenties) Half Mexican/Half white (Half latino/half white will probably work). Black hair, down to chin and five o clock shadow. (Flexible though). Tall and thin but not too thin. Dark, brooding, depressed, prone to long winded sarcastic, cynical rants. Living off the state for mental depression, and addiction, but eventually breaks himself from the state. He hates the state, and normal life in general. He hates almost everything. He is sort of sloppy hipster, slightly emo, slight slight slight goth meets street kid. Light or no body mod, piercings, etc. He eventually lives on the street because of choice.He falls in love with Aiko. SOME NUDITY AND SEXUALS SITUATIONS REQUIRED-CAST

Aiko Zumbi (18-early twenties or look like it) Half Japanese/Half German (or Japanese, or half Japanese/Half white). Shorter than Victor, thin but still slightly curvy.
Street kid with a bit of dark hippie. Has been sexually abused as a child. Prone to violence. Prone to long winded rants, or sometimes just total silence. Dark, cynical, with a very bleak view of life. Body mods, tattoo's, piercings, fine. Dreaded or colored hair fine as well. Actually preffered. She falls in love with Victor. SOME NUDITY AND SEXUAL SITUATIONS REQUIRED.

SUPPORTING LEADS:
Pedida Muertos- (20's -40's)-Mexican- Victor's nearly catatonic - mute drug addict mother, who is usually messing around with strange men, and drugged up. Mostly abuses Victor through neglect. Mostly shown in flashbacks, but one scene in present as well. Young actress aged to look older in present, or vice versa.

Misty & Foggy (20's) two girls that Victor and Chad meet at the bar, who are wasted, and act and look like twins. Very ditzy, drunk, corporate, normal. They take Victor and Chad back to there place. Drunken debauchery ensues.

Spic 'N' Span (20's -40's)- One of the horrible mascots for the advertising firm Victor works for, "Spic n Span's Whiten it up" Cleaning product. They play racist cliched versions of mexican house workers. Think Samo. It's meant to be horrible, and it of course offends Victor.

Aiko's Father-
A militant cold hearted man who sexually abuses aiko. Must be bilingual Japanese & English

Aiko's Mother-
Always screaming at Aikos father. Bi-lingual fluent in German & English

VARIOUS:
Hipster's (18-30) Some with speaking roles. A house party Victor crashes.

Office workers (20's -on) Some with speaking roles.

Various small roles for the horrible commercials and promo's from the firm Victor briefly works for

striped leggings

Do stripped leggings work with any lolita style? I think they look great, but I've read in some forums from "lolita experts", that solid colors are the rule, and stripped leggings are a big no no. I personally think that they work well with gosurori. But gosurori is different from goth, where the stripped leggings seem to have their roots, and gosurori should not be confused the other subculture. So, do stripped leggings work or not? What do you all think?

'm making a film, that will be somewhat explicit in parts. Also, there will be imagery that needs nudity.
I am afraid that I will not be able to cut the content of the movie script, even if I find actors interested .You can e-mail me with rates, photos, questions, etc. If your an actor or actress who has worked in nudity and/or sexual situations, is comfortable with it, and would like to take on a feature narrative film as a major role please e-mail me or show up to the auditions. The two main roles are the ones that require it but there are others. If you would like to be featured in sequences that do not involve the main characters, but are part of dreamlike imagery (that features nudity/partial nudity)you can either show up to the audition, or e-mail me with link to your work. Emma May (20's to 30's) Actress must be thin, because character is anorexic. Very fake, superficial, manic laughing. Very self deluded. She doesn't really see her anorexia as a problem, she think she looks great though she's obviously dieing and goes to extremes to keep herself thin. She is always dressed up elegantly and thinks of herself as a proper lady even when doing something grotesque . She is a head executive at a advertising/pr firm that she gets a Victor a brief job at, through meeting him in a class over there mutual addictions. (Brief Nudity /Partial a few times)

Caseworker Joe (30's-40's) Written has hispanic, but open. Larger guy, tall, built like a shed, a bit fat but not flabby fat. Very coarse, to the point, direct "Take no shit" kind of guy. Very normal, buys into the whole big house in the suburbs, good job, etc. He is Victor's Caseworker, and is tired of Victor's Shit, and believes he is not trying to quit. (None)

Glitters- a gay gangster rapper, take everything that's a cliche and horrible about it and flip it so that it's gay (some, will also need male models)

Pedida Muertos-Victors Mother. A nearly catatonic morally apprehensive drug addict who's always sleeping with random guys and ignoring her child (Some nudity/sexual situations can be negotiated to less)

And then random visuals, nudes for some flashback scenes (of some sort of psuedo porn the main characer shot) a girl that Victor sleeps with before he falls in love with Zumbi (requires brief nudity/sexuality) and some body part imagery that will not feature the face of the actor/actress, among other thing

I need before I even start:
Prostethetics/Makeup- There are many parts of my movie that need gore, ghoulish makeup or creating body casts for dreamlike effect (like a scene where they fall onto the ground and break like porcelain blood-paint spraying out of them creating a heart) but most importantly I need someone who can help make someone look anorexic, eye sockets reccessed , hips sticking out, ribs sticking out, shoulder blades, etc. I can't start without this because it's one of the main characters.

Boom-I have someone lined up for operating boom/mixing sound, but I'm not sure he'll always be available. I need someone who has at least some experience in this to help. I have equipment but having (better?) equipment would be great.

Props- It would be great to have someone who can assist in creating edible (or non toxic) chemicals, substances, materials for the main characters to ingest. It would also free me up to think about other things.

Lighting/ Art Department/ Set Design/Decoration/Locations- I need someone who can do a lot without a lot who can work with unusual materials. Who isn't too expensive or I won't be able to afford you. Also may be able to transform other locations into desired location.Things needed for instance underground bomb shelter turned into run down sorta apartment. Abandoned buildings. Offices. Fashion Show. A sewer, where the characters live in and eat off of trash.

Set Decorators/Builders:
Though the majority of the movie will be in real locations. There will be a few sets built, and sets that will be decorated to fit the movie. I am looking for people who have experience building sets (theater experience would be great) on a low budget. Resourcefullness in materials is needed (Meaning you can do a lot with not a lot). Building flats, painting, decorating.

Prosthetics/ Make-Up: Though this is not a gore horror movie. There is quite a few instances of gore. People who have experience in mold making, prostethics, sculpture. etc. would be very helpfull. Also people good at making people looking sickly or malnourished through make-up needed. In addition Emma May, the severe anorexic will need added pieces to protrude her brows and jaw, her ribs, collar bones, hip bones, etc to make herself appear much thinner. Actually a lot of make up needs from simple to complex through out the movie.

Vfx-Compositors- Though this will not be a special effects epic, there will be things needed. Good flashy two animations/composting for some of the fake commercials/promos. Possible fire and underwater animation. Some manipulation of the video -color fluctuations, shrinking an enlarging, simple morph effects, color globules to represent visual aberrations in the characters eye-sight. Some 3-D needed especailly those who are good working with modeling human figures. But mostly more simple 2-D basic 3-D stuff. I may do this myself, but send me a link to your work, and I might hire you for the movie.

Props: I will be doing much of this myself, but may need help in re-creating chemicals, materials, such as drano, soap, dirt, carpet, many other instances through-out the script, to create realistic looking edible (or at least non toxic ) substitutes for the substances they swallow.

Mechanical/Puppetry- Not needed for a lot of the movie. But there is a few scenes with Emma Mays giant snake like tape worm that slithers around. Also a scene where skull bowls start vomiting (have to read script to explain) Could do myself, just seeing if anyone else might be interested.

Lighting Designer: Though I will likely take over this role myself, and a lot of the footage will be shoot in the streets style. There will be a few locations that will be staying in for a long while in the script, and would like good, stylized lighting for maximum creepy effectiveness.

Costume: I already have a few people on board for this, but as this movie ends in a big Valentines Day Fashion Show. I am looking for people who could be commisioned for clothing for that event (and other sequences in the movie as well). Also, previously made pieces could work.

Underwater Camera- Anyone who would like to rent me an underwater camera, or who has experience filming underwater, this is needed for a few sequences.

Boom Mic/ Sound Mixer- I already have someone onboard for this, but never hurts to have a second position, or a backup

Pyro/ Fire Safety/Explosion - This really isn't needed for a lot of the movie. But there is one scenes where a whole room catches on fire (with possible stuntman that catches on fire, I made do this in special effects). There is another scenes where a home-made bomb blows a crack into a wall and makes it crumble. I want these scenes to come off effective and safe.

Security- Not throughout the whole movie, but there will be scenes where I will be filming in potentially dangerous locations, and a climax that will need crowd control

Legal/ Locations- I will probably do this myself, but if anyone has experience in finding or knowing of great locations, or securing permits for locations. I might be interested in working with you.

Production Assistants/Co-Ordinaters (I am sure you know what this means)

Music- I have most of the music worked out. But a band fell out that I really felt I needed for some sequences. If your music is post -rocky, slow core or has that aphex twin meets godspeed you black emperor I may be interested. The kind of bands I'm looking for: Mew, Godspeed you black emperor, Explosions in the sky, Spiritualized, 65 days of static, Sigur Ros. Also in some music Portis-Heady could work.

they got a new one they're calling harjuku kitty. if you look around their website they also have a ton of cheaply made black with white lace egl inspired dresses and shoes.

I said it a year ago EGL was gonna get popular stateside.
still don't know how I feel about that.
if it means some bands might come here it might be worth seeing a bunch of 14 year olds badly attempt to pull off the look.

You probably get this a lot, and i'm sorry if you do, but i've been quite eager to meet some lolitas in the San Francisco area. i'm the only loli i know apart from a few who like to dress it for the goth club, most of whom make their own stuff and modify the look quite a bit (so it's more on the end of Victorian Gothic). Mind you, i'm not always the "purest" of gothic lolitas myself, but i'm interested in meeting people who are into gothloli just for itself.

EGL clothes demand in US

I have been reading posts and looking online and i realise how little suppliers of EGL clothing there are and how expensive everything is. Are there any US stores? even if it's just online?

If not do you think there is enough of a demand for one? Especially in the bay area?

I am looking to start a third (fourth?) business and maybe this could be it!
I could import as well as have local EGL artist sell there creations...

A couple of caveats are that the video quality is pretty bad for a lot of them. Also, many of them are repeated by different people.

On the other hand, there is a good version of Gackt performing "Mizerable" both live and in the PV. Also a live version of MM performing "Beast of Blood" which I didn't know they'd ever played live!

And if you dig deep enough, there is an old band interview where Mana introduces himself! He's silent after that, though!

I just finished writing a 9-page paper in Spanish about how EGL (with main sources including questionnaire responses and Kamikaze Girls) compares to the effect of clothing in Don Quixote. If anyone would be interested in reading it, I would be very happy to share it.

it was the black one with the red owl. the owls head is a coinpurse too!

so cute and the fabric is great! i need to braid some ribbons to make a little handle for it...it has a little loop on the metal frame to attach it. you cant really see that in the pic. and inside there is a nice little pocket you could stick you i.d. and cards in. very roomy for such a petite purse.

Hello there, folks.

About this time every year, my friends and I host a lovely annual tea party out at the Evergreen Cemetery in Santa Cruz, California. It is a reasonably secluded graveyard that dates back to the civil war and it is full of lovely picnic spots and backdrops for gorgeous/evocative photographs.

Historically, we've had an even mix of t-girls and bio-girls attend. They have been small events in the past (6-10 people). However, most of that original core group, however, has now moved out of the area. I'd love to organize another tea, though, especially now that I have a new silver tea service!

A little about me:
I used to run a CD/TV/TS support and discussion group for t-girls under 30, but most of that original group has now moved off to college or grad school, or graduated from UCSC and moved out of the area.

I am a bisexual switch that is into gender-bending, costuming, fetish photography (and modeling) and a host of other kinks that aren't necessarily related to this posting.

I'm a trained server with the Northern California Ladies Tea and Discussion Society, but this tea is in no way affiliated with them.

Though the original group was mostly younger folks, I'm open to folks of all age levels and gender types. Costuming can range from EGL (Elegant Gothic Lolita) to full on fetish gear... however, keep in mind that we will be in a public park (no nudity please) that may have children nearby (no sex toys, please, though BDSM implements would be fine), and that we'll be sitting on the ground using a blankets.

Helping out with food and prep work is utterly welcome! I can provide tea and the tea service itself, but additional goodies like finger-food, sandwiches, fondue (I have a pair of pots to make it in), etc would all be lovely.

As far as activities go, everyone is welcome to bring Tarot cards, poetry and novels to read from, and anything else fitting with the gothic theme of the event. I'll be bringing my humble digital camera along, so it is quite possible that an impromptu photo shoot would result.

All this grooviness, and no date set for it yet. Is anyone here interested? Should we wait until just after Halloween to avoid the chaos and have more time to plan?

Whew! Thanks for letting me be long-winded... this is a great tradition that I don't want to see die!

I'm posting this in hopes to recruit some adult LARPers, Vampires and Creatures of the Night as conspirators in a little scheme of mine... and a big part of that scheme requires gothic eye candy.

Friday, September 9th and Saturday the 10th there will be a Live Action Vampire Game in Portland, Maine that will be small in numbers but large in scale and especially in terms of what Hollywood likes to call "production values".

We aren't playing this game in a gym, some hobby store, or anyone's basement... this is all taking place live, in interior and exterior venues around the city.

The theme is one of "The Embrace", and our victim is already chosen. What we're looking for now are more vampires... Here's the story thusfar...

Portland has existed in a virtual fog, clouded from the minds of kindred and kine alike... It's thought of, but one finds it extremely difficult to contemplate what might go on there or ever finding a compelling reason to go there... Except of course for tourists, fattened mundanes whose lifestyles are bland and banal but who provide a steady stream of sustenance for the local bloodsucking population.

The reason for Portland's obscurity can be found in the workings of it's mysterious Prince... many rumours abound as to her age and lineage, and few can truly lay claim to having seen the reclusive figure, but the fact remains... Nothing enters or leaves the city without her knowledge and blessing... And the Prince keeps the city vieled from prying eyes.

The Prince has kept an even balance in the numbers of kindred in any clan, and has forbade the siring of any childre... Until now. Someone has been chosen for the Embrace, and the Prince has decreed that the clans will each try and seduce the Chosen to their own bloodline. One night has been given for this task.

On the second night the Prince has declared an Elysium to be held in a nightclub, The Vault, where the ranking Primogen will each be able to make their argument for the Claim of Progeny... But who will tip the balance of Power with this new embrace ? Will the victim have a choice in choosing his own fate, or will the capricous Prince dictate his own whim?

In what I think is a first for LARP games, this event will be filmed throughout both nights. "Scenes" will be played back (projected) at the Rave and the Elysium for your out-of-character enjoyment, and to help create a cinematic scope to the game.

What can you expect ?

DATE: Friday night, September 9th will primarily be an outdoor event preceeded by staged encounters around the city of Portland. Each clan will be alllowed to meet with the Chosen in a venue that best represents them (I've already selected the sites and made arrangements for player's to be there). This will be followed by a Rave event outdoors.

LOCATION: I'm tapping my mundane influence to get us permits to an old fort sitting right on the edge of the Atlantic. The battlements are about 15' high and made of granite slabs some 4' thick and the gunports look right over the water. There's an inner promenade inside the seawall, and behind that is a hill that's actually an earthwork bunker riddled with tunnels and rooms that made up the offensive support network of the fort. The hill towers over the promenade by what looks to be over 50'... It's an incredible space that reeks of history and atmosphere.

THE EVENT: I'm gathering permits to allow us to use the fort for firespinning and firebreathers who will be performing for us, and either drumming or electronica music. The Rave will be where the clans come together for the first time en masse, as a prelude to the following night's official Elysium.

DATE: Saturday, September 10th will primarily be an indoor event

LOCATION: A Portland nightclub. The venue in question was a bank in a former life... The kind of old time bank with marble floors, 30' high cielings and mahogany panels... Not too shabby. There's also a balcony that wraps around most of the place which is much more intimate and offers plenty of plush seating, another bar (one of 5) and a couple of pool tables. The seal on the deal is the VIP room I rented... It's the original bank vault, complete with steel door and exposed locks, tucked away behind the deejay stage which you must climb up on to enter the VIP. The VIP holds about 20 comfortably at a time and you can do just about anything you want to back there, well away from the prying eyes of the norms out there. Maine stops serving at 1:00am. Sadly, even I can't do much about that on such short notice. What I can and have done is arrange for the club to be open for after-hours until 3:00am.

THE EVENT: The Elysium and the Choosing of the Sire

ACCOMODATIONS:

CAMPING:
We'll send you details on nearby campsights if that option appeals to you. There are 3 within 30 minutes of the game, all for under $20 per night.

HOTELS
There's a motel 6 nearby that fluctuates from 40 - 70 per night, and we have a group rate deal at a Fairfield Inn for $109.

COST: $15 for just Friday OR Saturday, OR just $20 total if you play for the both nights

OTHER EXPENSES: Other costs you'll face are the bar on Saturday night (no liquor at the fort, another state law ), sleeping accomodations and food.

Hey all~

So recently I made one of my 'once a decade' trips down to LA, this time for DomCon 2005. One of the booths in the convention hall was for Veronica Vinyl, a drag queen and fetish artist who had some cool prints for sale. I liked one enough to buy it and after asking permission, posted it here!

I thought the black, lacy minidress and all would be appreciated by the EGL folks here. Her only request was that I give her credit for the drawing and pass on a link to her yahoo group if any of you are interested.

Daisy drawings

I was thinking to myself the other day how fun it would be to have a steel sheild in the shape of a daisy! I'm in contact with some armorers that with the right kind of funding could possibly achieve my dream! but i need some visual example for starters! I could also fall back on a wooden one I suppose but the Idea of skipping around the bowels of San Francisco with a steel buckler in the shape of a daisy would be sooooo cute! that would make me skip! a whole lot!

'm going to be ebaying tons and tons of lip service and other goth clothes over the next couple of weeks. mostly brand new and some old rare stuff from my own closet that never quite fit (ie I bought it on ebay hoping it would fit but it was too big:'(

Gothic Lolita Event - San Francisco - Tokyo Dark Castle

Just thought I would post a note in here also to let everyone know that on Fri Oct 29th we will be debuting Tokyo Dark Castle here in the states for the first time.

Officially sanctioned from Japan, this event will be happening every other month (or as noted) and debuts with a Halloween Costume Contest night together with 6 bands, 3 DJ's, a gothic waltz, fashion show not to mention the many vendors that will be there.

While in Japan this event runs till 6am, our first event will run till at least 3am - Never fear - next time we will be running LATER ;-)

So get your costumes ready and hope to see you at our grand opening event!
