god I hate writers that write about shit that they know nothing about.
every time I read a piece like this it makes me cringe.
why can't they hire these assignments out ot people who know what they are talking about.
oh wait. that would make our media "informed" and "inteligent"
    blasphemy!

this is the part that pissed me off.
"Ms. Lam said, Gothic and Lolita blog sites have been infiltrated by men seeking pictures of girls in sexed-up Gothic and Lolita fare "That never happened until recently,"
THE ENTIRE POINT of gothic lolita style being sexy was that it WASN'T revealing or trashy in the western ways. it was sexy and aluring because IT WAS COVERED UP and INNOCENT.
but i guess that's a concept that western males who gobble up a steady stream of hustler and piss shots could never comprehend.

I remember when she wore the outfit to the Billboard awards. I, one put it on mute - I don't like her anyway, then yelled about everything she got wrong with it!! She looked worse than Brittney Spears! She lost even more respect from me, at least she could've done was present it properly. It would've looked better as well, that outfit is just ugly.

I've seen her live (not by choice...) and no, her voice doesn't hold up in real life. Very weak and squeaky.

          Just an aside...

Two things: "Schoolgirl lolita?" Ahem, don't you mean lolis thowing on a bonnet after school? There's no distinct "schoolgirl lolita" trend to my knowledge, though Black Peace Now and a few others have made Visual Kei-ish and loli-ish school uniform outfits. i remember seeing one in Black Peace Now and wishing i had the money to buy it.... :D

being someone active in the BD/SM and kink scene, i don't at all like the concept of "sluttiness," as i don't think there's anything wrong with having and enjoying safe and responsible sex as often as one likes. Be that as it may, it does seem distinctly un-loli to wear skimpy or revealing clothing. i don't, however, have a problem with the fetishization of loli. People can and will find anything sexy, depending on their inner psychological triggers; i personally do find loli and schoolgirl outfits sexy, but i don't wear them for the purpose of sexiness or sex. Similarly, i love corsets and find them very sexy, and i plan to get a corset made and start corset-training - but not for the purpose of sexiness. Rather, it's simply expressing what naturally emerges from me, and doing something i find pleasurable and self-discplining in a positive manner. Loli is the same; i wear it because it seems natural to me, and a healthy way to express myself. it's about personal experience, moreso than outer image.
